A young entrepeneurOne of the most heart-breaking challenges facing Africa is the number of teenage children forced to become carers and breadwinners before their time. Most are completely ill-equipped for adult responsibilities. They need support to learn skills that will equip them to cope with these responsibilities without being exploited.

HOPEHIV supports community-based programmes in many African countries that offer skills training to many of these young people, equipping them with lifeskills as well as the ability to earn an income that can also benefit the wider community. Our Bambejja project gives older girls with young babies desparately needed vocational training to give them a chance to create a sustainable future for themselves.

HOPEHIV is turning this crisis into an opportunity to develop young, socially aware entrepreneurs at community level that are also providing for the basic needs fo younger orphans. Learn more with our Chikombola Youth Project.

Many older orphans are unable to go on to secondary education because they need to be earning money to support their families. HOPEHIV funds vocational training in trades such as hairdressing, carpentry, building, agriculture, welding and tailoring in areas of desperate need such as the displaced people's camps of Northern Uganda with our partner ACET
