We see hope in Rejoice.
Rejoice is five and lives with her granny, her mum and three siblings in Kambuzuma, Zimbabwe. Their house has two rooms but they rent one out to bring in some money for food. Rejoice’s mum is very ill and Rejoice’s granny can’t afford to send all the children to school: the oldest one has gone to work for the family in the rural areas. Rejoice is able to attend the play centre supported by the HOPEHIV-funded Oasis Pre-School Programme, which helps local churches set up accessible pre-schools using their facilities and volunteers. Rejoice says, ‘When I grow up I want to go to school all day.’
